RepMO Wellness
Per Board Policy F-290-P, the Superintendent or designee is responsible for a District wellness plan that addresses the federal requirements of the National School Lunch Program, School Breakfast Program and the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010. The designee will ensure that the District promotes student wellness, preventing and reducing childhood obesity, and provides assurance that school meal nutrition guidelines meet or exceed the minimum federal school meal standards.
Aligned with our Comprehensive School Improvement Plan (CSIP), the District wellness plan seeks to provide curriculum, teaching, and educational opportunities within the school environment to support lifelong learning and promote the overall wellness of students and staff.
Student Wellness
RepMO Resources
RepMO Resources offers a thoughtful collection of community resources and partnerships aimed at providing students and their families with the essential tools for student success. Our district's primary focus is on nurturing the overall growth of each student—physically, socially, emotionally, and academically. Based on feedback from surveys, our priority areas include academic support, student safety, parenting resources, and student wellness. We are committed to updating this hub of family resources with additional valuable information throughout the school year.
Food Services
The Food Services Department is dedicated to providing wholesome and nutritious breakfasts and lunches to our students and faculty members per the U.S. Department of Agriculture nutrition standards for school meals. With a team comprising over 40 full-time and part-time staff, we diligently serve upwards of 1,000 breakfasts and 2,500 lunches each day throughout the school week.
Health Education & Physical Education
The District aims to promote student wellness by collaborating with various entities and encouraging healthy food and beverage choices alongside participation in school meal programs. Nutrition education will be embedded within the health curriculum, with additional wellness information integrated into classroom lessons as appropriate. Physical activity is also prioritized, with curricula promoting active lifestyles and engagement in physical activities throughout the school day, supported by family and community involvement. Evidence-based wellness strategies will guide the District's approach, and staff will receive training and resources to support student wellness. The District will ensure students have adequate time to eat, offer physical activity breaks, and encourage active transportation methods like walking or biking.
School Health Services
Guided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Health Services Department serves to enhance students' health and academic performance throughout our District. Recognizing the symbiotic relationship between health and learning, school nurses promote collaboration between schools and communities to overcome barriers to education. Each school building staffs a licensed nurse who conducts annual needs assessments to allocate resources effectively, thereby reducing hurdles to student success. District school nurses are committed to empowering students to develop lifelong healthy habits.
Staff Wellness
The District's CSIP includes a focus on taking care of the whole student and the whole staff member. In line with this initiative, the Staff Wellness Facilitator role was established in 2022. This position focuses on fostering a healthy lifestyle among employees, aiming to achieve a balanced school-life dynamic. The Staff Wellness Facilitator's duties encompass various tasks such as organizing educational campaigns, conducting health assessments, facilitating vaccination clinics, and coordinating resources to support staff well-being. Additionally, the Staff Wellness Facilitator actively participates in wellness committee meetings, acts as a liaison for building wellness leaders, and advocates for wellness support across all District levels.
Faculty and staff members can access information about employee wellness through the archived "RepMO Cares" monthly staff wellness newsletters available on the staff wellness website, as well as the archived employee e-newsletters, Staff Communicators, distributed to employees weekly and once in June and July.
