Republic School District officials are closely monitoring the forecast as inclement winter weather could potentially affect our area on Tuesday, January 9.

Families are asked to make alternative childcare plans in case in-person school is not able to take place on Tuesday, January 9.

Because of the projected timing of this precipitation, it is possible a decision will not be made regarding potential school closures until early Tuesday morning. District officials will be collaborating with weather experts and monitoring local roadways.

We will do our best to notify families and employees as soon as possible regarding any cancellations or changes to our regular schedule. Messages are typically sent by 5:30 a.m. on the day of a necessary closure. As previously communicated, if we need to close our district due to the weather, we will notify families and employees using the following methods:

  • Phone call
  • Text message
  • Social media
  • Website
  • News media

With winter weather in the forecast, Chromebooks will be sent home with Early Childhood and elementary students today, January 4, in case we need to implement an Alternate Methods of Instruction (AMI) – or virtual learning – day. If an AMI Day is necessary, Early Childhood and elementary students will utilize Google Classroom to complete independent activities posted by their teacher. RMS and RHS students will utilize Canvas. Please note: School work on AMI Days is required, and students are counted absent if work is not completed. Click here for more information about our school cancellation procedures and AMI Day practices

As long as we feel it is safe for our employees and there are enough staff members available, childcare through STRIPES 360 (Winter Escape) may be available during winter weather closures for K-6 students. Click here to pre-register and to learn more

Should there be additional information regarding the winter weather impact on our district, it will be shared with families and employees when available.
