The Republic School District is excited to share an update to its leadership team! At its meeting on March 18, 2024, the Board of Education approved a restructuring of Federal Programs/Student Services and the Special Education Department. Starting July 1, 2024, all three departments will be combined within the Students Services Department. Mrs. Beth Trogdon will serve as Executive Director of Student Services.

The three groups that will fall under “Student Services” – Federal Programs, Student Support Services and Special Education – have worked in partnership on many efforts for quite some time, as their shared commitments to supporting students often overlap. Within this new structure, we will formalize this collaboration with a team approach to caring for all students, as we work to best meet their needs to help them succeed at school and beyond.

Prior to her current role as Director of Federal Programs/Student Services, Mrs. Trogdon previously served as a special education teacher and process coordinator. That experience, combined with her expert knowledge of student support and her passion for serving all students will make her an exceptional leader for the new Student Services Department.

In her new role, Mrs. Trogdon will continue to oversee Federal Programs and Student Support Services as before, while adding Special Education services and staff. Three positions will assist in leading this department and will report to the Executive Director of Student Services. Details are listed below.

  • Current Special Education Director Dr. Lauren Goddard will step into a new role as Assistant Director of Specialized Curriculum and Support Services. This position will focus on curriculum, instruction and assessment for gifted education, English Learners, counseling and special education. Dr. Goddard will also oversee behavior support and the student intervention process.

  • Current Special Education Assistant Director Mrs. Lindsey Lovekamp will also move into a new position as the Assistant Director of Early Childhood and Elementary Special Services. This role will focus on special education compliance and support in our Early Childhood Center and elementary buildings.

  • A new position, Assistant Director of Secondary Special Services, will oversee special education compliance and support for Republic Middle School and Republic High School. This position will be posted and open for applications soon.

The Republic School District looks forward to the collaboration that will continue through this transition! This adjustment will not only help us align with other districts with a similar structure, but we will also take additional strides in our pursuit of a safe educational environment for all students to aim for excellence in all areas of their lives.
