As we wrap up National School Bus Safety Week, we'd like to share pictures from this week's bus evacuation drills at McCulloch Elementary School! Every K-6th grade student across the district participates in one of these drills every October and again in the spring. Our Transportation Department uses these opportunities to meet students, share bus safety information with them and practice evacuating a bus in an emergency. #RepMOProud

SOCKTOBER is in full swing! Join us in collecting socks throughout October for local philanthropic groups, including our own Price Tag and Locker 518 free clothing stores. To participate, send new socks to school with students or drop off donations to any building office! Our community partners, Hood United Methodist Church, joined the effort by donating 1,000 pairs of Bombas socks to Price Tag and Locker 518! THANK YOU! #RepMOProud

In response to a survey in early 2023, our district added 10 minutes to the end of each school day, which allowed us to incorporate a four-day Fall Break into our school year calendar! The district was also able to extend Winter Break. During Fall Break, there will be NO SCHOOL for students October 27-30. We'll resume classes on Tuesday, October 31! #RepMOProud

Did you know? When a student misses school two days per month, they will miss 20 days of school per year, including at least 30 hours of math and 60 hours of reading/writing instruction. In addition, students who miss two days of school per month will miss more than one year of school by the time they graduate. Those numbers are doubled for students who miss four days per month. For more information from our #EveryDayCounts attendance initiative, visit republicschools.org/everydaycounts. #RepMOProud
